Currently holding a pre-doctoral contract with the University of Vigo under the supervision of Prof.
Javier Pérez-Guerra and Dr.
Yolanda Fernández-Pena. My research draws on large electronic corpora to trace how speech and writing in Present-Day British English adapt to ongoing stylistic changes.
I am interested in usage-based Construction Grammar approaches to linguistic change, particularly in how
fragmentary structures, reflect broader sociolinguistic trends, like colloquialisation and register levelling.
Short bio:I hold a BA in Foreign Languages (2020) and a MA in Advanced English Studies (2021) from the University of Vigo, specialising in linguistics. During my BA, I spent a semester at the University of Osnabrück (Germany) through the ERASMUS programme. My doctoral research (
IDAES) is part of the project
Fragments: Constructionalising non-canonical expressions in written English (funded by the Spanish Research Agency, grant no. PID2020-117541GB-I00). It examines how the frequency and distribution of fragmentary constructions contribute to the colloquialisation of Present-Day British English in both spoken and written registers.
